About The Position

Resident Assistants are an essential part of American House’s wellness team, providing basic personal assistance to residents to help them maintain functional independence and psychosocial wellness under the direction and supervision of an RN or LPN. The role supports seniors’ daily care needs, encourages participation in community activities, and helps create a safe, warm, and welcoming environment. Resident Assistants build meaningful, respectful relationships with residents, families, and team members while helping residents live with dignity, comfort, and independence.

Requirements

• A passion for serving seniors and a compassionate, patient approach.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Previous caregiving, senior living, or healthcare experience required.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25–50 lbs as needed for resident care.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and report observations to leadership.
• Encourage residents to engage in activities, programs, and social events.
• Follow individualized care plans to provide person-centered care.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized resident apartments and common areas.
• Support residents with meals, hydration, and light housekeeping.
• Build positive, respectful relationships with residents, families, and team members.
• Support new resident orientation and help residents feel welcome in the community.
