About The Position

Resident Assistants are an essential part of the wellness team, providing basic personal assistance to residents to help maintain their functional independence and psychosocial wellness under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN). At American House, Resident Assistants support seniors’ daily care needs, enrich their lives, and help create a safe, warm, and welcoming environment. They also support community activities and build meaningful relationships with residents.

Requirements

• A passion for serving seniors and a compassionate, patient approach.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Previous caregiving, senior living, or healthcare experience is required.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull 25–50 lbs as needed for resident care.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and report observations to leadership.
• Encourage resident engagement in activities, programs, and social events.
• Follow individualized care plans to provide person-centered care.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment in resident apartments and common areas.
• Support residents with meals, hydration, and light housekeeping.
• Build positive, respectful relationships with residents, families, and team members.
• Support new resident orientation and help new residents feel welcome in the community.
