The Resident Assistant (RA) position within the Residence Life Office is a student leadership position that requires the RA to reside in a residence hall alongside other students. The RA works under the supervision of the Residence Life Coordinator (RLC). In the hall, the RA is accountable for helping to create a community environment that is conducive to the personal growth and development of all residents. The RA position is one of opportunity and responsibility. RAs have the chance to explore their own development through interaction with people and ideas related to their job. They will gain many insights into their ability to relate to people with a wide variety of personalities and lifestyles and to gain substantial knowledge from the other staff members with whom they work. The RA helps guide others to realize and work toward their individual potential. This job is one with many duties: it is an opportunity to maximize a student’s self-development, maturity, and confidence during the academic year.
