About The Position

The Resident Assistant, Medication Aide provides resident care and services in a caring, safe, and efficient manner, following location standards and procedures. Duties include supporting medication self-administration and, with appropriate training, administering medications; helping residents with personal care and activities of daily living; monitoring and reporting changes in health status; and maintaining clean, safe living and work areas. The role also supports meals, laundry, and community involvement.

Requirements

Complete and maintain the assigned medication administration training program and competencies in accordance with state guidelines.
Meet the minimum state age requirement if working at a facility that uses a lift to move residents.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with self-administration of medications and administer medications when properly trained.
Help residents maintain a proper, clean appearance, including bathing and personal hygiene.
Assist residents with toileting, dressing, and undressing.
Assist residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking.
Obtain vital signs accurately and report changes in residents’ health status.
Follow OSHA and CDC infection-control guidance and aseptic cleaning techniques, including procedures related to bloodborne pathogens.
Use chemicals safely and follow SDS guidelines in the event of exposure.
Help prepare and serve nutritious, appealing meals and snacks in accordance with orders, standards, and regulations.
Fold, hang, and distribute clean linens and personal clothing; prepare and launder soiled linens and clothing.
Clean residents’ rooms and bathrooms, work areas, and other public areas.
Participate in community involvement at the location and work with volunteers.
