About The Position

The Resident Assistant/Personal Care Aide provides quality care and assistance with activities of daily living to residents of the community. The role also involves housekeeping, responding to resident calls and emergency alerts, supporting activities, monitoring residents, communicating resident information, and helping new residents transition into the community. The assistant reports incidents and care concerns to appropriate individuals and follows applicable policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Successful completion of an approved personal care aide program, as required by applicable state regulations.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Organized and able to work well with all levels of personnel.
Ability to contribute as a member of the nursing team and follow supervisor instructions.
Polite and considerate conduct toward residents, visitors, and coworkers.
Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift 50 pounds and push or carry 25 pounds.
Ability to safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanics.
Wear the designated uniform, including a name badge, during working hours.
CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to become certified within 60 days of hire.
Ability to represent the community positively and professionally.
Attend and complete required in-services and staff meetings.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

Report resident incidents, care concerns, or issues to appropriate individuals, such as the HCD, RN/LPN, or ED.
Maintain a working knowledge of policies and procedures related to the position.
Assist residents with activities of daily living.
Perform housekeeping duties as directed, including making beds and cleaning resident apartments, common areas, and the dining room.
Respond promptly to resident calls for assistance and emergency alerts, remaining calm and competent during emergencies.
Assist in planning and conducting resident activity programs.
Follow confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information.
Assist residents to and from the dining room and activities.
Check on residents and ensure they attend meals and activities.
Check on ill residents and report their status or concerns to appropriate individuals.
Communicate verbally and in writing about resident status, community information, appointments, admissions, and transfers.
Support new residents during move-in and provide emotional support.
Complete other duties as assigned.
