About The Position

The Bridge is seeking a Resident Advocate to provide direct services to residents in a 100-bed emergency shelter. This role supports survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and women and children experiencing homelessness. The advocate will conduct initial intakes, provide orientations on shelter guidelines and services, assign rooms, supervise residents for compliance and safety, and maintain quality client services. Responsibilities include preparing documentation for grants, maintaining statistical records, updating daily census and log reports, and assisting with meal counts and supervision during mealtimes to ensure safety and cleanliness.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Two years' experience providing direct care in social services or residential setting with at-risk clientele.
  • Must pass criminal background investigation check
  • Must provide and maintain current TX Driver’s License
  • Must provide and maintain clean driving record and annually update driving record
  • Must provide and maintain current auto liability insurance
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S
  • Must be able to lift/carry (40) lbs, and ascend/descend stairs in emergency shelter setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct services to residents in a 100-bed emergency shelter setting for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and women and children experiencing homelessness.
  • Conduct initial intake of residents, provide orientation on emergency shelter guidelines and available services, and make room assignments.
  • Supervise residents to ensure compliance with shelter guidelines and maintain overall safety while providing quality client services.
  • Prepare documentation of services provided in compliance with grants using clear and concise narratives.
  • Maintain statistical records for files as assigned.
  • Update daily house census and log report each shift to keep peers abreast of residents’ status.
  • Provide assistance to Food Services staff by conducting daily meal count on all residents attending meals.
  • Oversee residents during mealtime to ensure safety and cleanliness.
  • Answer 24-hour hotline, LIVEchat, and text to provide telephone assessments, including safety planning, crisis intervention, information, and referrals.
  • Update and assist with overseeing the HCDV shelter bed database.
  • Ensure TBOTW account is updated and accurate bed availability is noted daily.
  • Conduct routine walk-throughs of the facility to monitor and assist with the cleanliness of the shelter to help ensure resident safety and compliance with shelter guidelines.
  • Provide orientation to volunteers and new staff as designated.
  • Other duties as assigned.
