About The Position

The right individual for this position has a passion for helping others, is nonjudgmental, and able to deal with difficult situations in positive and constructive ways. This role involves supervising shelter activities to ensure the safety of participants, handling intakes, interviews, and after-hours referrals. The position also requires ensuring timely bunk assignments, dorm inspections, and property storage, as well as maintaining accurate logs, shift reports, and participant records. Additionally, the role includes performing urinalysis and breathalyzer testing, attending staff meetings, and facilitating de-escalation, problem-solving, and crisis intervention services as necessary.

Requirements

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team.
Ability to appropriately assess a situation and de-escalate/take corrective action as necessary.
Good computer skills.
Hearing and vision adequate for interaction with participants, interaction with staff, and interaction with the general public.

Nice To Haves

Direct or Lived Experience with homelessness, addiction, and/or low-income populations.
Understanding of the issues surrounding homelessness, chemical dependency, domestic violence, and sexual assault.

Responsibilities

Supervise shelter activities to ensure the safety of participants.
