About The Position

The Core Faculty serves as clinical educators, ensuring the delivery of high-quality teaching, scholarship, and patient care as part of an ACGME-accredited Residency program. The Faculty dedicates an average of twenty-four (24) hours per week to residency supervision and training, ensuring that all requirements are met while providing excellent clinical care. The Faculty is expected to provide a minimum of sixteen (16) hours per week of direct patient care. The Faculty receives annual training on a variety of topics, including (but not limited to) (a) all relevant policies and procedures, (b) the evaluation and assessment of residents, (c) core competencies and milestones, and (d) faculty development.

Requirements

  • Physician with current, valid American Board of Family Medicine certification and an active, unrestrictive CA and DEA license to practice Family Medicine by the Medical Board of California. (Physician faculty members from other specialties must have current (American Board of Medical Specialties) certification in their respective specialties.)
  • A minimum requirement of a valid BLS certification or higher, following the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in Family Medicine is preferred, preferably in Federally Qualified Community Health (FQHC).
  • A chief residency year or medical education fellowship or a minimum of 2 years of documented educational Residency Program experience in an ACGME-or AOA AOA-accredited Family Medicine residency program.
  • Experience in a Teaching Health Center or Community-Based Program preferred.
  • Completion of a community medicine fellowship is preferred.
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university program in Public Health, Business, or Health Care Administration, or other related fields preferred.
  • Experience in community engagement preferred.
