The Residence Hall Director is responsible for the management of assigned residence halls, including coordinating daily workflow and administrative tasks related to operations such as access, maintenance, building service requests, general inspections, and student concerns. This role involves recruiting, training, and supervising Resident Assistants and/or Graduate Assistants, providing continuing education programming for student staff, and scheduling on-call staff. The Director collaborates with various internal units for residence hall opening/closing and intersession, assists with room reassignments, transfers, and damage control, and conducts facility inspections to ensure safe and clean spaces. They are responsible for maintaining and enforcing policies, implementing crisis management and emergency procedures, and educating residents on campus emergency protocols. The position requires maintaining communication with residents, promoting belonging, and encouraging the use of campus resources. The Director also develops and implements educational programming and community programs, manages Living Learning Communities, and assists with evaluating program efficacy and student outcomes. Budget management for programming, communication strategies, and assisting with student conduct code enforcement are also key responsibilities. The role involves responding to and mediating student and community concerns, reviewing incident reports, and serving as a hearing officer for conduct cases. Additionally, the Director serves in an on-call capacity for emergencies and crisis situations, completes administrative tasks, acts as a liaison to university resources, and may serve on departmental committees.
