About The Position
The Residence Hall Director provides a safe and secure living environment with academic, engaging programming, and supportive services to VSU students residing in campus housing; manage associated housing databases and financial reporting systems. Serves as Residence Hall Director for the Department of Residence Life and Housing.
Requirements
- Knowledge of student development theory and practice, residential life operations, and higher education policies, procedures, and community standards.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive and productive relationships with students, families, faculty, staff, and campus partners.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate student staff and foster their professional development.
- Demonstrated ability to respond effectively to crises, manage conflict, exercise sound judgment under pressure, and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive matters.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to creating and sustaining a safe, inclusive, and engaging residential community that supports student success and development.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and contribute to a student-centered living-learning environment.
