Residence Hall Assistant Director - Live In
About The Position
Reporting to the Residence Hall Director (RHD) and serving as a member of the three-person leadership team for the assigned residence hall, this live-in position manages the residence hall's day-to-day community development initiatives and programs in an effort to create residential living/learning communities. Supervises Resident Assistants (RAs) and advises hall council. Provides crisis intervention to residents; assesses nature of problems and resolves or refers to supervisor for resolution. Conducts investigations of alleged violations of University and residence policies; holds meetings, determines degree/seriousness of violations, and issue sanctions. This position is responsible for assigned after-hours/weekend/holiday on-call duties on a rotational basis to address any residence hall based emergency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 2 years relevant experience or equivalent combination.
- Experience in community development activities and programming.
- Experience in student staff supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.
- Good leadership and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to quickly and effectively respond to emergency situations.
- Ability to communicate with a diverse population and supervise staff.
- Ability to work with standard office software package.
Nice To Haves
- Master's degree in Higher Education Administration or related field
- Experience working within a residential life/housing program in a university environment
