About The Position
Dominion House is seeking a Part-Time Residence Counselor to provide services to adults with a diagnosis of mental illness living in a group home. This role focuses on verbal engagement, supportive counseling, and teaching life skills, with no personal care or physical restraints involved. The position emphasizes promoting a culture of inclusion and belonging, and requires providing transportation to clients using agency vehicles.
Requirements
- College classes in human services, BA preferred
- Demonstrated ability in helping others
- Valid and insurable driver's license
- Must have a personal vehicle to use for business purposes when not transporting clients
- Experience working with people who have a diagnosis of mental illness or other human service experience
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to be organized and have good time management skills
Responsibilities
- Provide supportive counseling
- Provide rehabilitation skills such as teaching of daily living skills including medication management and coping skills, crisis intervention and prevention
- Engage in recreation activities for socialization and stress reduction
- Maintain a healthy and clean environment for clients, ensuring clients are doing their chores correctly and by assisting with cleaning activities
- Promote a culture of inclusion and belonging
- Provide transportation to clients using the agency’s vehicles
