About The Position

The Case Manager serves Refugee Resettlement clients directly by providing hands-on case management and maintains a regular caseload of clients. The Case Manager plays an integral role on the team, working alongside other Resettlement staff. The role requires strong attention to detail, data entry skills, and the ability to complete regular reports and submit them in a timely manner; this work is done in close coordination with the Program Manager and other Resettlement staff. This position reports directly to the Resettlement Program Manager and works closely with the rest of the Refugee Resettlement team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED, or some college, bachelor’s degree desirable.
  • Must have a valid CA driver's license, insurance, a reliable personal vehicle, and a willingness to travel off-site to conduct meetings with employers and facilitate interviews with clients, providing client transportation.
  • Familiarity with social service systems in San Diego and California for low-income families.
  • Experience in a social services setting providing case management.
  • Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills, proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
  • Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.
  • Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Experience in a nonprofit setting, preferred.
  • Advanced use of MS Office programs, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer relationship skills.
  • Fluency in a client target language is strongly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provide case management to eligible refugee and/or immigrant clients, which will include internal and external referrals to service providers, while tracking and managing client progress towards goals.
  • Assess and coordinate referrals to local service and housing providers, San Diego Health and Human Services, and other partners or services as needed.
  • Assist clients in enrolling in eligible benefits and providing orientation of the services they receive.
  • Act as an advocate to help clients identify and access necessary services.
  • Act as a representative to help clients communicate with providers.
  • Act as an advisor to help clients understand the necessity and purpose of services they receive.
  • Conduct community outreach and presentations to develop a system of support on behalf of eligible populations.
  • Participate in collaborative and work group meetings related to case management services.
  • Manage data and documentation per program guidelines.
  • Maintain case files for their respective program, with quality assurance of said files by the Program Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
