About The Position
The Reserve Officer Program provides individuals with an opportunity to serve their community while gaining valuable law enforcement experience. Reserve Officers assist full-time officers with patrol operations, community events, crime prevention programs, traffic control, prisoner transports, court security, and other public safety functions.
Requirements
- At least 21 years of age
- Possess a valid Oregon driver's license
- Pass a background investigation
- Pass a psychological evaluation
- Successfully complete the National Police Officer Selection Test (POST)
- Pass the Oregon Physical Abilities Test (ORPAT) with a time of 6:20 or less
- Complete the Mid-Valley Reserve Training Academy (MVRT)
Responsibilities
- Assist full-time officers with patrol operations
- Assist with community events
- Assist with crime prevention programs
- Assist with traffic control
- Assist with prisoner transports
- Assist with court security
- Assist with other public safety functions
- Volunteer a minimum of 25 hours per month
- Attend monthly training meetings
Benefits
- Uniforms and equipment are provided by the department (excluding boots)
- Some assignments may be eligible for quarterly stipends
