Researcher 1 - Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
About The Position
Researcher-1 participates in execution and management of research projects in a biological/health science research laboratory investigating neuromotor dysfunction in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) College of Medicine (COM) and Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC); participates in implementing goals and objectives of studies; designs and executes complex laboratory experiments; performs advanced biomechanical, electroencephalographic (EEG), and functional testing techniques; participates in recruitment, enrollment, and intervention delivery among human subjects with cancer and/or neurological deficits; collects, analyzes and interprets research data; assists with development and implementation of new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques; tests experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods and make recommendations for utilization; assists in establishment of controls, criteria and research standards; trains and/or supervises research staff in biophysical data acquisition and research participant safety; manages daily operations of the laboratory; oversees and initiates procurement of lab supplies and equipment; provides technical assistance and supervision of equipment; negotiates and oversees equipment service contracts and repairs; performs critical analysis of literature relevant to research being undertaken; assists in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at national and conferences and workshops, and in the writing of project reports, articles and other documents; assists principal investigator in the preparation of proposals to obtain new or renewal of extramural funding in support of research; coordinates laboratory activities and work assignments graduate and undergraduate students and laboratory research staff; oversees and coordinates periodic maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment; performs additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required
- 3 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree
- 1 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree
- Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge in the conduct of biomechanical/neuroscience/health science research is required
- Considerable knowledge of biomechanical laboratory methods, materials, and equipment is required
- Familiarity with MatLab, Excel is required
- Must work under minimal supervision and make decisions according to policies and procedures
Nice To Haves
- Master's degree in an appropriate biological/health science with experience in human subjects’ research or an equivalent combination of education and experience in human subjects’ research is preferred
- Proven ability to build rapport with individuals with neuromotor dysfunction is desired
