About The Position

The Research Technologist assists the Center for Tuberculosis Research with studies evaluating new drugs and drug combinations in in vitro and mouse models of mycobacterial lung infection. Under direct supervision, the role is assigned projects involving stepwise assessment of microbiologic efficacy, drug pharmacokinetics, and drug resistance. The position performs laboratory tasks and routine assays using established protocols and procedures. The technologist supports in vitro and animal studies evaluating drug candidates; cultivates pathogenic bacteria, including M. tuberculosis and non-tuberculous mycobacteria; and handles biohazardous materials under BSL-2 and BSL-3 conditions. The work also includes animal infections and treatment, mouse necropsies, collection of infected organs, bacterial drug susceptibility testing, and mutational analysis. The technologist collects and analyzes data, maintains laboratory equipment and supplies, and collaborates with research colleagues and vendors. The position reports data and troubleshooting needs to the PI in weekly meetings.
