About The Position

This is a one-year limited tenure position that may have the possibility of extension or turning into a regular position. Duties will include conducting experiments in epigenetics and performing mouse-based studies. The individual’s career goals will be taken into consideration when assigning responsibilities and shaping professional development opportunities. This vacancy is not eligible for sponsorship. We will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, other relevant science, or an associate's degree with 6 years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Solid understanding of lab techniques, equipment, and safety.
  • Ability to organize and carry out laboratory techniques independently and in a team setting.
  • Experience with basic data analysis is required.
  • Demonstrated writing skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with mice is preferred.
  • Experience in epigenetics and molecular biology is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and performs routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals, grant commitments, i.e. assays, cell/tissue culture, animal studies, etc.
  • Monitors results, reports unusual outcomes and suggests modifications.
  • Collects, enters and summarizes data.
  • Assists in the maintenance of lab equipment and supplies.
  • Performs basic statistical data analysis; prepares tables/charts/graphs and assists in organizing data.
  • Presents at research laboratory meetings and contributes to writing of manuscripts.
  • Works under supervision and may perform some assignments independently as discussed and approved by Principal Investigator.
