About The Position

The Lab Manager provides comprehensive administrative, operational, and research support to ensure the effective functioning of a dynamic research lab. This role supports the Principal Investigator (PI), coordinates lab activities, oversees research assistants, and ensures compliance with institutional and federal research guidelines. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative academic environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and two-years (2) experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, public health, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Experience in academic research coordination, lab management, or administrative support.
  • Familiarity with IRB processes and research compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring students or research assistants.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with website management and project management tools (e.g., Basecamp).
  • High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to handle confidential information

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and facilitate weekly lab meetings, including preparing and distributing agendas and documenting key discussions and action items.
  • Manage day-to-day lab operations, including purchasing, reimbursements, and submission of facilities and maintenance requests.
  • Support the PI with administrative and research-related tasks, including preparing presentations, reports, and letters of recommendation.
  • Oversee research compliance processes, including Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions and maintenance, as well as preparation of annual reports (e.g., NIH reports)
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and supervision of research assistants (RAs), including managing assignments and leadership roles.
  • Maintain and update lab infrastructure and resources, including lab manuals, onboarding materials, project management platforms (e.g., Basecamp), and lab website content.
  • Coordinate research dissemination efforts and collaborate with communications/marketing teams to support website updates and outreach.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective research assistants, study participants, and external stakeholders.
  • Attend scientific and leadership meetings, taking detailed notes and summarizing key outcomes and action items.
  • Support ongoing communication within the lab and with institutional partners to ensure smooth operations.
