About The Position

The Bose lab seeks a Research Technician to conduct research on human bacterial pathogens. Under the direct supervision of the PI and other research staff, this role conducts routine elements of research work that requires the use of skills, technical and academic knowledge to follow established procedures, and record results. The technician will manage lab inventory, maintain a laboratory notebook, perform collaborative studies, generate data for publications and grant submissions, and participate in lab meetings.

Requirements

4 years of Research experience with bacteria. Education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree Microbiology or related field.
Experience with PCR, Western blot, aseptic technique, dilution plating, and other microbiological methods.

Responsibilities

Conducts routine elements of research work that requires the use of skills, technical and academic knowledge to follow established procedures, and record results.
Manage lab inventory including ordering and restocking of supplies as well as other laboratory records.
Maintain a current Laboratory Notebook, documenting all calculations, work, experiments, and other pertinent research information.
Perform collaborative studies with other research laboratories across the US.
Generation of data and documentation of research performed for the preparation of published papers, as well as assistance on grant submissions and other documentation necessary for laboratory compliance.
Participate in regular communication with the PI and lab members via lab meetings and to discuss experimental design and interpretation of results.
Attend and maintain compliance on all orientation and training sessions designated by the University and the Microbiology, Molecular Genetics and Immunology Department.
Understand and follow IACUC and biosafety protocols.
Attend departmental seminars and regular lab meetings.
