About The Position

The Siciliano lab from the Department of Pharmacology at Vanderbilt University is seeking a self-motivated Research Technician. Our lab research focuses on addiction and sensory neuroscience using cutting-edge technology to trace neural sensory tracts in combination with immunohistochemistry, optogenetics, in vivo fiber photometry, and behavioral pharmacology in rodents. The individual hired for this position will be directly supervised by PI Siciliano and expected to assist with experiments.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in chemistry, biochemistry or similar field is necessary
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community is necessary

Nice To Haves

• Experience with rodent colony management preferred
• Experience with rodent behavior is preferred
• Experience with programmable microprocessors is a plus
• Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities is strongly preferred
• Vanderbilt experience is preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist with mouse colonies management
• Assist senior lab members in maintaining laboratory inventories and ensuring proper recordkeeping
• Prepare reagents and other laboratory materials as needed
• Take initiative in delivering accurate results on time
• Collaborate and respond effectively to team needs
• Communicate clearly with lab members to ensure smooth workflow
• Self-motivation with a strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability is necessary
