About The Position

Works under minimal supervision to provide responsible technical assistance in performance of assignments requiring basic knowledge of techniques and practices related to particular field of science. The Research Technician II will support both daily operations and hands-on research in the Wang Lab led by Dr. Sam Wang (Department of Surgery). The lab focuses on developing new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for stomach cancer using mouse models, cell lines, and human patient tissues. Key Responsibilities: Maintain mouse colonies, perform PCR genotyping, and record data. Assist with in vivo studies (tumor implantation, monitoring, testing therapies) -Perform molecular biology assays (DNA/RNA extraction, Western blotting, qPCR, IHC) -Support ongoing research projects and collaborate with team members. Manage inventory, procurement, and regulatory paperwork. Coordinate daily lab operations and equipment maintenance. Onboard and train new lab members. The ideal candidate will have experience with cell culture or organoids, molecular biology techniques, mouse handling and genotyping, strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills, and the ability to maintain accurate records and follow protocols. Motivation, reliability, and attention to detail are also prioritized. Submitting a cover letter is strongly suggested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree With major coursework in field of assignment and no experience or
  • Two (2) years of college with emphasis in coursework in field of assignment or
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • No experience required with Bachelor's Degree or
  • 2 years of laboratory experience at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with two (2) years of college or
  • 4 years of laboratory experience including two years at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with High School Graduation or GED equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Records research data in accordance with prescribed procedures, discussing results with supervisor.
  • Assists in collection of data for project reports.
  • Reads literature and confers with supervisor concerning implementation of new procedures.
  • May plan for, and provide working supervision to, work of laboratory personnel of lower grade engaged in limited phase of research project.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
