The Dana lab develops new methods and tools to record neurons in the brain using nonlinear microscopy and protein sensors. Our goals are to better understand the role of brain circuits and the efficacy of novel neuroprotective treatments in pre-clinical models of neurodegenerative and neurological conditions. As a Research Technician on our team, you will perform laboratory techniques and procedures required for assigned experimental studies, assist with establishing and scheduling analyses, conduct tests using a range of laboratory equipment and instrumentation, and assemble experimental results for review by research staff. Requirements

High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience in a research or related laboratory environment OR Associate’s Degree in a laboratory science field and one year of experience OR Bachelor’s Degree

Responsibilities

Perform laboratory techniques procedures required for experimental studies.
Perform technical lab duties as delegated by the Research Staff Supervisor related to the assigned project.
Schedule and perform the various analyses needed to complete the project.
Assist with establishing and scheduling of various procedures and analysis.
Prepare reagents and purify chemicals using chromatography, distillation, etc.
Identify, separate and quantify various substances.
Conduct tests and procedures utilizing various laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
Accumulate data from analyses, prepare charts, graphs, statistical tables for presentation to Research Staff Supervisor for final analysis and preparation for publication, grant proposals and applications for research funds.
Potentially order laboratory supplies and equipment.
