About The Position

Works under minimal supervision to provide responsible technical assistance in performance of assignments requiring basic knowledge of techniques and practices related to particular field of science. We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented individual with a positive attitude, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills when interacting with patients, clinical staff, and research teams. This role requires flexibility, including occasional evening or weekend work to assist with research activities. The schedule includes rotating and overlapping shifts with another research technician.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree With major coursework in field of assignment and no experience or Two (2) years of college with emphasis in coursework in field of assignment or High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • No experience required with Bachelor's Degree or 2 years of laboratory experience at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with two (2) years of college or 4 years of laboratory experience including two years at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with High School Graduation or GED equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Clinical experience or medical knowledge (e.g., scribing, patient care support) or prior research experience
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, such as Epic
  • Experience with Electronic Data Capture systems, such as REDCap or other clinical research databases

Responsibilities

  • Identify, recruit, consent, and enroll eligible patients into clinical trials in accordance with study protocol and regulatory guidelines
  • Conduct patient follow-up through phone and in-person communication, in both English and Spanish
  • Collect, process, and manage biological specimens following safety protocols and operate various laboratory equipment and apparatus
  • Accurately enter and maintain patient and study data in Academic and Research systems and research databases
  • Assist with study initiation, device preparation, and research coordination activities
  • Provide support in clinical areas, including the operating room, for study-related procedures
  • Collaborate with team members and report to supervisory staff
  • Performs routine scientific and medical research work in science area such as biology, chemistry, physics, or other related scientific field.
  • Assembles and/or operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus.
  • Records research data in accordance with prescribed procedures, discussing results with supervisor.
  • Assists in collection of data for project reports.
  • Reads literature and confers with supervisor concerning implementation of new procedures.
  • May plan for, and provide working supervision to, work of laboratory personnel of lower grade engaged in limited phase of research project.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
