About The Position

The Research Technician I will work for a research lab housed within the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences: the Personality Measurement and Development Lab (the “PMAD” Lab) directed by Dr. Joshua Jackson. This is a full time, 37.5 hour per week, benefits eligible, position. You can learn more about the PMAD lab’s research at https://pmadlab.com. The start date for this position is between July 1 and August 1st of 2026. Primary responsibilities include assisting with purchasing and reimbursements, drafting and editing IRB applications and amendments, assisting with data request and data use agreements, creating and managing surveys using survey software such as Qualtrics, performing data quality and analysis code checks in R, recruiting and scheduling research participants, running participants in laboratory or online sessions, conducting literature searches and summarizing relevant literature for research projects, creating and updating data dictionaries, and supervising undergraduate research assistants in the aforementioned tasks. In addition to these primary responsibilities, the Research Tech has the (optional) opportunity to lead conference presentation(s) and/or manuscript(s) as their schedule allows.

Responsibilities

  • Study coordination activities such as recruiting and scheduling research participants; corresponding with participants; running participants in laboratory sessions; supervising part-time undergraduate research assistants.
  • Creating and managing surveys using survey software such as Qualtrics; data cleaning and collation; creating and updating data dictionaries/codebooks; developing data management and storage solutions.
  • Run data analysis scripts, create data visualizations, and summarize results via written descriptions.
  • Professional development activities to increase research skills and experience (e.g., working on manuscript(s))
  • Administrative tasks such as assisting with IRB applications and amendments; assisting with data requests and data use agreements; assisting with reimbursements.
  • Conducting literature searches and summarizing relevant literature for research projects.
