About The Position

The Ohio State University, College of Engineering is seeking a Research Technician 2 to assist with conducting research on indoor microbiome. This is a great opportunity to develop skills in both sampling and laboratory research. Candidate should be advanced technically as well as operationally within the Research/Laboratory environment. Individuals will utilize their current technical and operational knowledge to accomplish the Research Objectives. Will log data results as well as communicate those results with other team members. The individual will also prepare and write publications to present findings to various stakeholders. The individual will also assist with laboratory maintenance tasks.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED, Certification or vocational training may be required.
  • 0 years of lab experience required.
  • Experience or the ability to be trained in propagating and enumerating pathogen surrogates and performing qPCR to estimate total pathogen particles.
  • Experience or the ability to be trained in using spectral instruments to monitor chemical and structural changes in microbial signatures
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, coordinating between different investigators and staff.
  • Precision in following complex experimental protocols.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Environmental Engineering, Biology, or Chemistry, OR a different field with 1 year of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Proficient in multi-tasking problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
