About The Position

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Research Technician 2 performs research in molecular and cell biology in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. This is a grant-funded position funded until June 30, 2028.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
  • OR a combination of college coursework and work experience to equal four (4) years.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail for record keeping.
  • Ability to perform general techniques on the molecular and cellular level.

Responsibilities

  • Performs biomedical research tasks.
  • Makes a variety of constructs (including Cas9/CRISPR knockouts, mutant signaling components).
  • Conducts experiments to satisfy research objectives.
  • Grows glioma cancer cells and tests them for their sensitivity to radiation and DNA imaging agents.
  • Evaluates effects on various properties of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo.
  • Communicates with the PI effectively and timely regularly to determine the needs of the laboratory.
  • Orders all laboratory supplies.
  • Maintains the lab records of research activities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
