About The Position

This position works within defined test or analytical protocols, operating equipment, carrying out test procedures, as well as collating and interpreting data using special methods in support of a research project or program for Dr. Nick Carpino in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in a Biological Science field.
  • Experience with research activities.
  • Experience with advanced methods of data collation and interpretation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the study of host-pathogen interactions
  • Experience working with in vivo infection models
  • Experience with quantitative analysis of innate and adaptive immune responses
  • Experience using cell culture-based models to study infection

Responsibilities

  • Conduct experiments; provide technical laboratory support, and/or animal handling to assist with experiments conducted.
  • Collect data, record observations measurements and prepare reports for review of supervisor and or PI.
  • Perform literature search; staying current in the field by reading and discussing the literature and experimental results with the supervisor and/or PI.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned, including lab and equipment maintenance
