About The Position

The Gregg lab in the Department of Pediatrics is seeking a research specialist to join the lab. We are a highly collaborative lab that is interested in understanding how early life nutrient stressors affect offspring risk of metabolic health conditions. We use cell culture models and a human mother-infant cohort with biospecimens to understand the molecular events that impact long term health consequences along with active investigation of lactation physiology. The research specialist role includes analysis of human breast milk and blood samples, using animal models to study long term health consequences, and in vitro models of breast tissue. The research specialist will act as leader in the lab for both day-to-day lab duties and conducting high-impact research for dissemination. This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location. Candidates who demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities will be given first consideration. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Organized with ability to manage multiple research projects.

Requirements

  • Experience in a laboratory or clinical research study

Responsibilities

  • Performs literature reviews and writes reports
  • Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences
  • Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s).
  • Collects data and monitors test results
  • Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials
  • Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area.
  • Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders
  • Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers
