The O'Leary laboratory in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Medicine and Public Health, is seeking to fill a position as a research specialist. The laboratory studies immunological responses to normal microbiota, metabolites, and tissue injury with a focus on the gastrointestinal tract. This is an exciting opportunity for hands-on training and mentorship in immunology and tissue biology, with the opportunity to establish an independent project and publish as a team. The research specialist will assist the team by performing a wide array of experimental techniques such as PCR, quantitative PCR, ion flux experiments, single cell data analysis, flow cytometry and immunofluorescence imaging, as well as in vivo manipulation of transgenic mice and murine tissue processing. Lab management tasks include mouse colony management; assisting in purchasing and budgeting; managing undergraduate assistants; and serving as the chemical hygiene officer. This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.
