About The Position

The individual will be under the supervision of the PI and will participate in routine experiments and the maintenance of a basic biomedical science laboratory. The role emphasizes transgenic mouse colony establishment and maintenance, embryonic and adult mouse histology and immunohistochemistry, light microscope imaging, preparation of solutions and reagents, equipment sterilization, and basic cell/tissue culture. These duties will be utilized to assist in the identification of anti-liver cancer signaling factors during liver damage repair. The individual will also assist the PI to select and order reagents. Work is conducted in a basic biomedical laboratory that focuses on Liver diseases, regeneration and cancer.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or other natural, life or health care science.
  • One year work experience directly related to the assigned research area.
  • Must be able to work with animals (mouse).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology or other life science is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, record keeping, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience of various laboratory techniques including animal husbandry, PCR and recombinant DNA work, western blotting, cell culture, histology and immunostaining, and microscopic imaging.
  • Prior experience in lab management roles is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and planning routine experiments, including optimization of daily experimental protocols, selection and ordering reagents and lab supplies.
  • Maintaining an accurate and timely experimental records.
  • Share responsibility for mouse husbandry, including transgenic mouse colony breeding, maintenance, and expansion.
  • Histology and immunohistochemistry, including tissue collection, processing and embedding, sectioning, staining, and imaging.
  • Basic molecular biology and biochemistry experiments: DNA isolation, genotyping, real-time PCR, western blotting.
