The Weindel Lab, based in the Department of Microbiology focuses on immunology of the periphery and central nervous system (CNS), studying how genetic variants impacting mitochondrial function predispose individuals to neurodegenerative disease and susceptibility to infection. The lab is currently seeking a Research Specialist II who will, under general supervision, perform a variety of routine and specialized laboratory tasks including preparing samples and specimens, performing straightforward experimental procedures (cell culture, cloning, PCR, western blot, microscopy, flow cytometry, buffer preparation, etc.), working with mice, and maintaining stocks of laboratory reagents and equipment. In addition to working on the bench, the LRT will assist with data analysis and generating graphs and figures. This work will require teamwork and coordination with other lab members, maintenance of accurate and timely records of experimental procedures and results and maintaining supply inventories for the laboratory.
