About The Position

The Research Specialist (hourly) will support in vivo studies investigating how mesenchymal stem cell–derived and trigeminal ganglion neuron–derived extracellular vesicles regulate corneal nerve regeneration and epithelial repair under PI, Dr. Jalilian.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in science or related field required.
A minimum of 3 years related research experience.
Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods.
Proficient in specific lab research techniques.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in science preferred.
Medical or biomedical background.
Strong understanding of ocular and corneal anatomy.
Experience or demonstrated comfort working with labratory animals and performing injections.
The ability to follow approved animal protocols and labratory procedures carefully.

Responsibilities

Perform animal handling and assist with research procedures in accordance with approved protocols and laboratory procedures.
Assist with subconjunctival injections and ocular assessments.
Collect, dissect, and process corneal and trigeminal tissues for experimental analysis.
Perform immunostaining and other laboratory techniques according to established protocols.
Conduct imaging of tissue samples and assist with the collection and analysis of experimental results.
Maintain accurate, organized, and timely documentation of experimental procedures, observations, and research data.
Maintain laboratory materials, supplies, and equipment needed for assigned experiments.
Assist the Principal Investigator and research team with other laboratory and research activities related to ongoing studies.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
