The Raabe Laboratory at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, is seeking a highly motivated Research Specialist A/B to join our research program focused on liver disease, fibrosis, and regenerative medicine. The work includes a variety of cutting-edge molecular and cell biologic techniques to investigate the role of senescence and other fibrosis related pathways in human liver derived organoids and primary human cells in the context of liver disease. Relevant diseases include viral infections and age related fibrotic liver diseases. This work will involve genome editing using CRISPR/Cas9 and siRNA techniques both in organoids /cells and in related mouse models - mostly performed by using lipid nanoparticles. The work involves basic cell culture experimentation (including cell transfection/transduction, stimulation and time course collection), molecular biologic assays (SDS-PAGE, Immunoblotting), and fluorescence microcopy as well as basic data quantification and analysis. The position will also involve assisting with maintaining mouse models, lab organization through ordering of equipment/reagents, maintaining stocks, reagents, chemicals, records, and lab instruments, and attending planning and review meetings. Other duties as assigned. The Research Specialist B position will undertake the duties outlined for the Research Specialist A position, with the additional expectation that the candidate will work independently to develop novel methods and techniques, in addition to undertaking established methods and techniques. This position would also have the added expectation of performing some methods/techniques/data analysis independently, and have a background including more experience, specifically with skills necessary to do data analysis and compilation using appropriate software.
