About The Position

This position is for a Research Senior Technician within the Comprehensive Cancer Center at The Ohio State University. The technician will assist and support scientific investigation as directed, independently conduct assigned experiments, and perform a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures. This includes PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures, and Northern and Western analysis. The role also involves sorting and processing tissue and blood samples, testing and evaluating current procedures, performing routine procedures on lab animals, and recording, consolidating, and assisting with the analysis of research results. The technician will help evaluate the validity of data, summarize data for grant proposals and manuscripts, and prepare research progress reports. Additionally, they will assist the principal investigator with the preparation of publications, conduct library research, maintain accurate records of laboratory activities, and assist with training junior research staff and students. The role requires setting up and operating laboratory equipment and monitoring research supplies.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in a biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education is required.
  • Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required.

Responsibilities

  • Independently conducts assigned experiments.
