About The Position

The Research Senior Technician participates in planning, design, execution, and management of research projects in Dr. Liping Yang’s group at the Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Ohio State University. Participates in developing and implementing goals and objectives of studies; designs and executes complex laboratory experiments; performs advanced molecular and cellular techniques such as spectral flow cytometry, single-cell proteomics/genomics, CRISPR, highly multiplexed tissue imaging, and spatial transcriptomics. The role also involves animal studies, including taking care of mice, performing animal studies, handling weaning, genotyping, breeding, collecting mouse tissues, and isolating mouse primary cells. The technician will collect, analyze, and interpret research data, assist with the development and implementation of new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques, and test experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods. They will also assist in the establishment of controls, criteria, and research standards, perform critical analysis of literature, and assist in the preparation of research papers, manuscripts, and project reports for publication and presentation. Additionally, the technician will support the principal investigator in preparing proposals for funding, conduct library research, oversee and maintain accurate records of laboratory activities, and assist with training junior research staff and students. The role includes setting up and operating laboratory equipment and monitoring research supplies, initiating procurement requests as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree.
  • 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree.
  • Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required.

  • Performs critical analysis of literature relevant to research being undertaken.
  • Assists in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at national and conferences and workshops, and in the writing of project reports, articles and other documents.
  • Assists principal investigator in the preparation of proposals to obtain new or renewal of extramural funding in support of research.
  • Conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature.
  • Oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities.
  • Assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation.
  • Sets up and operates laboratory equipment.
  • Monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed.
