About The Position

The Research Senior Technician will make common buffers, maintain insect and human cell lines, clone genes into plasmids, purifies plasmids and bacmids, over-expresses recombinant proteins in E. coli, insect cells and human cell lines, purifies recombinant proteins using FPLC system, transcribes RNAs in vitro, extracts RNAs, performs qRT-PCR, quantifies mRNA levels by Dual-Luciferase Reporter assay, and prepares samples for structural biology. The Research Senior Technician will record the experimental work on the lab notebook; order the reagents and items through Workday; organize the lab supplies; cleans the FPLC; cell homogenizer and other lab equipment; updates the reagent excel spreadsheets; read literature and papers relevant to the research; other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry or molecular biology in a biological/health sciences related field or equivalent experience
  • No prior experience required with a Bachelor’s degree
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience with an Associate’s degree
  • Four (4) years of relevant experience with a High School diploma
  • Clear oral and written communication skills in English
  • Desire to work as part of a highly motivated team

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in cell biology, especially gene transfections in human cell line and immunoprecipitation of the proteins
  • Experience in protein purification
  • 3-4 years of relevant experience preferred
