About The Position

Research Senior Technician to assist and support scientific investigation to study selective cellular and regional vulnerability in Alzheimer’s disease and other tauopathies as directed in the Department of Neuroscience; independently conducts assigned experiments; performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including immunohistochemistry, PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures and Northern and Western analysis; sorts and processes tissue and blood samples; tests and evaluates current procedures; performs routine procedures on lab animals; records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results; assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures; summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts; prepares research progress reports; assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature; oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities; assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation; sets up and operates laboratory equipment; monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree.
  • 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree.
  • Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required.
  • Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check.
  • A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.

Responsibilities
