About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Technician to join our team. This position is critical for supporting the development of complex experimental protocols and performing high-precision measurements using single-molecule magnetic tweezers. The successful candidate will investigate the behavior of Mismatch Repair (MMR) proteins under mechanical stress, helping to maintain high-throughput data collection and advance our understanding of genomic stability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biophysics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Physics, or a related field.
  • Prior experience with single-molecule techniques (magnetic tweezers) is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with data analysis software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work with high-precision instrumentation, and excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize experimental protocols for single-molecule magnetic tweezers.
  • Monitor and characterize the behavior of Mismatch Repair proteins along DNA strands under varying mechanical tension.
  • Manage data collection workflows to ensure consistent research throughput.
  • Maintain and calibrate specialized laboratory equipment.
  • Collaborate with the research team to analyze and interpret single-molecule data.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental and vision coverage, with Ohio State paying a significant portion of the cost.
  • Paid time off, including sick and vacation time and 11 holidays.
  • State retirement plan or an alternative retirement plan, both with generous employer contributions.
