About The Position

NYU Grossman School of Medicine is seeking a Research Scientist to join a NIH-funded study investigating micro- and nanoplastic (MNP) particle accumulation in mammalian tissues. This role involves collaborating with Rutgers and Columbia Universities, utilizing state-of-the-art methods for MNP particle analysis, and working independently within the PI's laboratory framework. The scientist will be responsible for overseeing the third aim of the project, focusing on MNP accumulation in human samples obtained from autopsies. This includes specimen preparation, measurement, cutting, storage, and transportation to the NYU Center for Biospecimen Research & Development (CBRD). The position requires flexibility due to the unscheduled nature of autopsy lab activities and involves coordination with external laboratories and the data team at Columbia University. Opportunities for career development, including manuscript preparation, grant applications, and external presentations, are available. Continuous learning and ongoing continuing education in research development are expected.
