About The Position

Leidos’ Defense Sensors - RF Systems Portfolio is seeking a Research Scientist with software development experience to join a talented team within the RF Systems Portfolio. Candidates in this role will be a part of a diverse team of scientists, engineers, and analysts supporting advanced radar systems research and development in a high-fidelity modeling and simulation environment. Candidates will be expected to set up, test, analyze, and evaluate radar and weapon system performance using modeling and simulation of air defense systems. Leidos Defense Sensors provides a diverse portfolio of systems, solutions, and services covering land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace for customers worldwide. Solutions for Defense include enterprise and mission IT, large-scale intelligence systems, command and control, geospatial and data analytics, cybersecurity, logistics, training, and intelligence analysis and operations support. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics, or other technical degrees from an ABET-accredited institution plus 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or Master of Science degree with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate degree in relevant technical area
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data sets and present/provide meaningful insights and statistically relevant findings
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer programming and/or related tools (Python, MATLAB, C++, etc.)
  • Must be a US citizen, possess and able to maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
  • Must be a resident of Huntsville. AL or willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area

Nice To Haves

  • Radar/Air Defense Systems M&S Experience
  • Master of Science in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics, or other technical degrees from an ABET-accredited institution
  • Experience working in a Linux operating environment
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data sets and present/provide meaningful insights and statistically relevant findings
  • 4+ years’ experience in software development and/or integration activities
  • Background in C++ development

Responsibilities

  • Support M&S configuration, testing, and data analysis activities of radar and weapon systems to determine performance capabilities
  • Demonstrate strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills in support of analysis products and presentations
  • Work with a team to find solutions to novel, complex, and non-traditional questions
