About The Position

Jazz Pharmaceuticals is a global biopharma company dedicated to developing life-changing medicines for people with serious diseases, often with limited or no therapeutic options. This role is responsible for designing and executing experiments relating to the efficacy and mechanism of action of anticancer compounds, with a specific focus on neuro-oncology. The position involves documenting and archiving experimental protocols, data, analyses, and conclusions, and contributing to communication of research through publications, presentations, abstracts, and patent applications. This is a full-time, laboratory-based position requiring self-motivation and the ability to work under general supervision on multiple projects.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform routine laboratory work, sit or stand at a computer for long stretches of time and type.
  • Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets and office equipment.
  • May occasionally lift objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Five or more years of industry or post-doctoral experience on the bench dedicated to neuro-oncology.
  • Demonstrated expertise in neuro-oncology biology, as well as therapeutics.
  • Experience in oncology and pharmacology assays and techniques.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication including publications and conference presentations.
  • Team player who is highly organized and able to manage multiple concurrent projects with minimal oversight.
  • Forward-thinking with the ability to anticipate challenges and proactively implement solutions.
  • Computer proficient.
  • Experience driving advancement of numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to identify and initiate tasks, set goals for completion, create timelines, and monitor progress to ensure completion.
  • Strong sense of urgency to meet business needs.
  • A positive, "hands-on" approach to the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to react and respond professionally to changing priorities and timelines.
  • Demonstrated success in working in a matrix, cross-functional environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly both written and oral and work independently with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ph.D. in cancer biology, molecular/cell biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or related fields, or master’s degree with relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage cell culture of cancers, including neurospheres.
  • Perform in vitro efficacy, mechanism of action, target validation, and biomarker studies with cancer therapeutics, with an emphasis on CNS tumor models.
  • Create stable cell lines with CRISPR and inducible expression of relevant biomarkers.
  • Create or adapt reporter systems for relevant molecular targets.
  • Present summary results for internal communications and external presentations.
  • Support preparation of conference abstracts and manuscripts for publication as needed.
  • Develop proper operational, data documentation, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Perform other responsibilities and projects as assigned by the Company.
