About The Position

The postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Hasan Lab at Mercer University will serve as a senior-level investigator leading independent and collaborative research projects in cardiovascular drug discovery. Projects in the lab are focused on understanding and targeting ion channels and G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) to identify novel therapeutic targets, and develop new drug candidates for hypertension, stroke and cardiometabolic diseases. The incumbent will design and execute studies using a comprehensive and integrative experimental approach that includes pressure myography, Ca2+ imaging, advanced microscopy, flow cytometry, genetic approaches, cell culture, molecular biology, luminescence-based assays, ELISA, Western blotting, enzyme activity assays, immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemistry, biophysical analyses of ligand–receptor interactions, blood pressure analysis, as well as in silico modeling and molecular dynamics simulations. In addition, the postdoctoral Research Scientist will contribute to grant development, assist the PI in manuscript preparation, and support laboratory operations, ensuring high standards of rigor, reproducibility, and compliance. This position exercises a high degree of scientific independence and contributes to the strategic direction and growth of the research program.
