As a member of the Computed Tomography (CT) Imaging Physics and Algorithm team, the Research Scientist develops physics-based solutions and corrections and supports medical imaging platform needs. The role leads CT image-quality improvements, including development of photon-counting systems, and uses a system-level engineering approach across the imaging chain. The position focuses on CT and X-ray imaging features, signal and image processing, CT reconstruction, and calibration. It investigates image-quality issues during product introduction and in the installed base, communicates findings to stakeholders, and delivers safe, effective, well-documented solutions based on rigorous data analysis. The role also develops and enhances R&D tools for physics-based simulation and image formation, including benchmarks, dataflow requirements, and Software Requirement Specifications. Work is primarily in MATLAB, with increasing use of Python and optional C++ for performance-critical components. The Research Scientist maintains expertise in CT physics and advanced processing algorithms, with photon-counting CT as a top priority, and applies additional knowledge of spectral, dual-energy, multi-energy, and cone-beam CT. The role owns the CT imaging physics roadmap and aligns it with business strategy across clinical, marketing, and systems teams. It also tracks emerging technologies such as AI and deep learning, contributes to intellectual property and publications, and represents the organization in regulatory and industry engagements. This is an office-based position. Office-based teams work in person at least three days per week. Candidates must reside in or within commuting distance of Orange, Ohio. Travel of up to 10% may be required.
