We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Peptide Chemist to join our dynamic team in San Diego. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional academic credentials in peptide medicinal chemistry, along with expertise in formulation strategies for peptide therapeutics. In this role, the successful applicant will be a key member of the laboratory, contributing to the design and synthesis of peptide analogs intended to enhance the potency, pharmacokinetics, stability, and in vivo efficacy of potential drug candidates, with a particular focus on long-acting injectable formats. The candidate will have ample opportunity to participate in multidisciplinary drug discovery projects, engage in independent ideation, and help drive innovative practices that accelerate peptide drug discovery efforts. Requirements

• Master’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience, or Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience.
• 1-4 years of experience in academia or a biotechnology/pharmaceutical company.
• Skilled in contemporary peptide synthesis techniques, and analytical characterization of peptides and proteins.

Nice To Haves

• Ph.D and/or postdoc in chemical or biological sciences with a strong focus on peptide chemistry is preferred.
• Strong understanding of peptide and protein structure and associated biophysical techniques to assess structure, stability and behavior in solution.
• Experience in bioconjugation, time-extension and formulation strategies for peptides and proteins.
• Review research papers and intellectual property literature in support of SAR of peptide drug design and/or delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional team
• Ability to meet multiple deadlines across a variety of projects/programs, with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency
• Self-motivated, strong work ethic, independent and results oriented.

Responsibilities

• Play a leadership role in peptide drug discovery and development efforts, contributing to the advancement of long-acting peptides and peptide conjugates into effective clinical candidates.
• Participates in a multidisciplinary team committed to the expeditious identification of development compounds and advancing discovery projects through critical preclinical stage gates.
• Apply medicinal chemistry and formulation principles to optimize peptide candidates for extended-duration dosing.
