About The Position

Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Pharmacology Research Scientist to join our pain pharmacology group in San Diego. We are looking for a motivated, creative, and innovative scientist with a deep understanding of ion channel physiology and pharmacology and expertise in pain research. This lab-based role involves designing mechanistic studies, developing cellular models of neuronal function, and analyzing data to guide decision-making. Preference will be given to candidates with extensive experience using cutting edge electrophysiological and imaging techniques, utilizing primary cells, including human cells. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong desire to collaborate within a multidisciplinary drug discovery team.

Requirements

Strong understanding of ion channel pharmacology.
Experience with assays related to neuronal signaling and excitability.
Experience with electrophysiological and imaging techniques, utilizing primary cells, including human cells
Proven ability to design, execute, and interpret cellular assays.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to navigate and thrive in a fast-paced, highly-matrixed work environment.
