About The Position

Meta is seeking a Research Scientist Intern to join the Reality Labs Robotics Research team. The team advances artificial intelligence and robotics through fundamental research into technologies that help machines interact with and understand the world. The role focuses on foundational models and areas such as generative modeling, reinforcement learning, and robotics. Interns can make core algorithmic advances and apply their ideas at scale. Internships last 12 to 16 weeks or 24 weeks, with various start dates throughout the year.

Requirements

  • Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, Robotics, or a relevant technical field.
  • Experience with Python, C++, C, or other related programming languages.
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment by the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
  • Experience building systems based on machine learning and/or deep learning methods.

Nice To Haves

  • Intent to return to the degree program after completing the internship or co-op.
  • A track record of significant results, demonstrated through grants, fellowships, patents, or first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, or similar.
  • Experience working and communicating cross-functionally in a team environment.
  • Experience advancing AI techniques, including core contributions to open-source libraries and frameworks.
  • Publications or experience in machine learning, deep learning, multimodal learning, generative modeling, or robotics.
  • Experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches.
  • Experience setting up machine-learning experiments and analyzing results.
  • Experience manipulating and analyzing complex, large-scale, high-dimensional data from varying sources.
  • Experience using theoretical and empirical research to solve problems.
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop novel, state-of-the-art generative AI algorithms and corresponding systems, applying deep learning techniques to robotics.
  • Help analyze and improve the efficiency, scalability, and stability of deployed algorithms, depending on the project.
  • Conduct research to advance the science and technology of intelligent machines.
  • Conduct research that enables learning semantics and training generative models across data modalities, including images, video, 3D, text, and audio.
  • Collaborate with researchers and cross-functional partners, communicating research plans, progress, and results.
  • Disseminate research results.
  • When applicable, contribute to research that can be applied to Meta product development.
