About The Position

Promega is offering a hands-on internship developing and validating bioluminescent tools for studying protein dynamics, protein interactions, and cellular processes. The intern will build experience with cellular and biochemical techniques, including fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, immunoprecipitations, and mass spectrometry, and explore ways AI can support data analysis and experimental design. The intern’s data will contribute directly to technology-development projects nearing commercial launch. The internship is based at Promega’s Madison, Wisconsin site and will last approximately three months, beginning in May or June 2027.

Requirements

• High school diploma or proven work experience demonstrating readiness for the role.
• Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, or a related field, with at least two years completed before summer 2027.
• Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Proficiency with digital tools and technology, including Microsoft applications and mobile platforms, and ability to adapt to and use emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence to improve efficiency, automation, and collaboration.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with tissue culture techniques.
• Prior experience with flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, and/or bioluminescent or fluorescent reporter assays.
• Prior experience with mass spectrometry.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate as a bench scientist on projects using cellular and bioanalytical techniques such as transfections, fluorescence microscopy, FACS, and mass spectrometry.
• Work closely with team members to meet project milestones.
• Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of experimental work in accordance with lab standards.
• Present findings and progress to the broader team.
• Demonstrate inclusion through words and actions and take accountability for maintaining a safe workspace; act with kindness, curiosity, and respect for others.
