Research Scientist III - Biological Sciences
About The Position
The laboratory of Dr. Warren Burggren in the Biological Sciences Department at the University of North Texas is seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist. The applicant will study epigenetic inheritance of hypoxia tolerant phenotypes. More specifically, the candidate will perform both physiological (oxygen consumption, heart rate) and morphological (histology, immunohistochemistry) studies of zebra-fish across several generations. This is part of a project funded by the US National Science Foundation. This work involves careful fish rearing and breeding in a large multi-investigator facility.
Requirements
- Doctorate in Animal Physiology.
- At least five years of experience in the field of animal physiology with publications demonstrating the active contribution of the candidate to this field of study.
- Prior experience with at least three of the following approaches: metabolic measurements, cardiovascular measurements, histology, immunohistochemistry, morphological measurements of larval fishes, fish aquaculture is required.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience working with fish is highly desired.
- Strong scientific writing and communication skills are highly desired.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills too.
