About The Position

We are seeking a full-time Project Manager A/B to manage the activities of the Penn Medicine Nudge Unit, the world’s first behavioral design team embedded within a health system. This position will contribute to the Nudge Unit’s capacity building efforts and will provide operational and evaluation management to projects conducted within the Nudge Unit. This role requires experience working with multiple stakeholders from various settings, including large health system networks, and human subjects’ research experience. In this work, the project manager will be required to act autonomously in their decision-making and display excellent communication skills and good judgment. Project Manager A Duties: The position is responsible for the project management of multiple Nudge Unit-sponsored projects, including providing oversight of all tasks necessary to ensure that studies are conducted safely and according to protocol. The Project Manager A will be responsible for developing protocols, ensuring proper transfer and management of study data, training and of research coordinators and research assistants. This position will also assist with IRB applications, sponsor reports, and manuscripts in conjunction with an interdisciplinary team of collaborators who work closely with the Nudge Unit. In addition to the duties described above, the Project Manager B will serve in a leadership role with several clinical and research projects. They will meet regularly with study and department leadership to provide study updates but will function independently in carrying out most responsibilities. The Nudge Unit is actively engaged in collaborative studies with other institutions and with industry partners. The PM B will be expected to be comfortably familiar with internal and external partners and to interact with them appropriately to advance the research goals of the Nudge Unit and collaborative partners. The PM B will be responsible for the training and supervision of research coordinators and research assistants. They will meet regularly with health system leadership to provide Nudge Unit updates but will function independently in carrying out most responsibilities. This position will also assist with grant applications, budget development and management of study finances. This position is contingent upon funding.

Requirements

  • Experience designing, coordinating, and managing day-to-day project activities required.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 to 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required (Project Manager A).
  • Master’s degree and at least 3 to 4 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required (Project Manager B).
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders from various settings, including large health system networks.
  • Human subjects’ research experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple Nudge Unit-sponsored clinical and research projects.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.

  • Support appropriate transfer, organization, and management of study data.
  • Train and support research coordinators, research assistants, and other project team members.
  • Contribute to dissemination, implementation, and scaling activities.
  • Serve in a leadership role for more complex clinical and research projects (Project Manager B).
  • Ensure project activities align with Nudge Unit priorities and partner goals (Project Manager B).
  • Function independently in carrying out most project responsibilities (Project Manager B).
  • Engage effectively with internal and external collaborators, including health system, academic, and industry partners (Project Manager B).
  • Supervise and mentor research coordinators, research assistants, and other staff as appropriate (Project Manager B).
  • Assist with grant applications, budget development, and management of study finances (Project Manager B).
  • Identify opportunities to improve team methods, operations, culture, project selection, and execution (Project Manager B).
  • Lead or support the development, evaluation, and implementation of new workflows and operating models (Project Manager B).
  • Support programmatic initiatives and events that enhance the Nudge Unit’s impact (Project Manager B).
