About The Position

This role contributes to the analysis of internal and external opportunities related to operating goals. The coordinator will independently manage some or all of the implementation of assigned projects and outreach initiatives. They will serve as an expert resource and mentor other internal/external research project personnel. The position involves troubleshooting and resolving problems, and contributing significantly to discussions on prospective project design, feasibility, project management, and outcomes measurement. Participation in designing, organizing, and monitoring projects, including budgets/financial management, is expected. The coordinator will plan for, participate in, and occasionally lead the education of internal and external staff required to carry out an assigned project or research initiative. Organizing and participating in internal and external project workgroup, committee and/or advisory board meetings, teleconferences, and regional meetings; preparing written correspondence; developing brochures, exhibits, and web site content; writing articles for newsletters, newspapers, and magazines; coordinating student rotations and community research experiences; and presenting at national meetings are also key functions. The position may require frequent travel to support community-based participatory research efforts. Specifically, this Research Program Coordinator for Community Integrated Research will coordinate the Community Outreach and Engagement-Led Clinical Trial Matching initiative, utilizing existing artificial intelligence (AI) and digital tools to identify potential patients and match them with available clinical trials. Collaboration with clinical research coordination staff and study teams to support patient identification, recruitment, referral, and enrollment into clinical trials is essential. The coordinator will also support Community Outreach and Engagement activities, including coordination of the Community Clinical Trials Champions Program, and may support other community-based research, outreach, and engagement activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, education, communications, or other related field. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, Associate's degree/college Diploma/Certificate Program with at least 3 years of experience OR HS Diploma with at least 5 years of clinical research coordination/related experience may be considered.
  • Applied knowledge and prior experience working with various research populations preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellent skills in leadership, communications, problem-solving and work organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively with a variety of people at all levels both within and outside of Mayo Clinic.
  • Proficient in desktop publishing, word processing, database applications, and web site development.
  • Highly organized, efficient, capable of comprehending complex instructions and situations, able to manage several projects simultaneously, and able to function independently and exercise independent judgment in decision-making.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous clinical research coordination experience preferred.
  • Experience with patient recruitment, medical record/chart review, and AI or other digital tools preferred.
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
